Christmas 2011

It has been an interesting Christmas Season. About 5 days before Christmas we got a phone call letting us know that Dave was in the hospital. The arteries in his heart were 90% clogged and he was moments away from having a serious heart attack. He went in on Tuesday and was scheduled for surgery on Thursday. He is the last of his brothers to have the same operation, we are just grateful that he was able to go in before he had a heart attack. We knew that with Dave being the hospital that he would not be able to be home for Christmas. So we decided to bring a little Christmas to him.

A normal Caudle Christmas is full of Chaos and arguing about what game we should play and have a mentioned Chaos? Well this year was different. There was no complaining about who is going to do what at what time, no whining about food being made wrong and no craziness over presents and games. We went to Dave and Dianes on Christmas Eve and had our annual Soup and appetizer dinner. Afterwards I set up a craft for the family to make Dave a get well card. We then headed to the hospital as a family and gave Dave his card and also gave him a heart attack :) with paper that is. We did some caroling down the halls of the hospital and then ended up back in his room to do the Nativity with the kids. We got them all dressed up and put a sheet on the ground. The room was filled with the spirit of love. We had a nice little audience of nurses and doctors. I know that Jenny and I were bawling and the nurses outside were too. It was nice to be together and to have a better understanding of the love of family especially in times of sickness and trials. Dave wasnt feeling well so we only stayed a little while then we headed back to Grandma's to open some presents.

We then went home to open our Christmas PJ's and the kids had made Kirk and I some gifts. they gave us a box full of "coupons" good for cleaning and hugs and all sorts of goodies! Such sweet kiddos. Christmas morning came early for the kids. Austin knocked on my door at 3:45 am and asked if he could get the shower. We wouldn't let the kids go downstairs till 6 though. The kids got what they wanted and were very happy.

We went to church and I watched my kids zonk out from pure exhaustion from waking up so early. We went back to grandmas to enjoy some left over soup then headed back to the hospital to give Grandpa and Grandma our gifts. Dave was looking much better and was able to sit up to open the gifts. It was nice to be there with them on Christmas morning but we still couldnt stay long because Dave gets to tired to fast. We headed home and had a nap then headed out to kirk's uncles house to share Christmas night with them and Kirk's Grandma.

It was a great holiday. Dave being sick turned our normal chaotic holiday into a special spiritual and reflective holiday and I am grateful for the gentle reminders of what this holiday is really about.

A very Voo-Doo wedding

So Kirks brother tied the knott a few week ago. They are a very unique couple and decided to have the wedding at VooDoo donuts. For those of you who do not know what this is, its a very special doughnut shop here in Portland. Its famous for its unique donuts and decor and yes they do weddings.

We started the morning off at Cassie's apartment so i could work some magic on her hair and the girls hair too then we headed to Voodoo... The ceremony was most deffentntly the fastest and craziest i have ever seen. They did quite the plow through down the isle knocking people out of the way and then the pastor guy summoned their spirits into circles on the ground drawn with chalk. Then he beckoned Kenny Rogers spirit to join us. It lasted about a total of 5 minuets and we had a nice audience of customers in line to buy their doughnuts. Their cake were doughnuts in the shape of a bride and groom.

After the wedding we said our goodbyes and went on with our lives. Very interesting...yes very much so. Enjoy the pictures :)

Halloween

Well its Sunday morning and my 10 year old is sleeping in my bed, poor kid was sick all night last night. It is kinda nice when your little boy who is to old for comfort wants to crawl in bed with you like he is a toddler again. I guess that is 1 good thing about being sick, your kids love you again! For the most part its just super sad, so for the 2nd week in a row looks like I will be MIA for church.

Lets see Halloween was a good one. The kids had a blast and got way to much candy! Trinity decided she wanted to be a zombie cheerleader. So I teased the crud out of her hair and once she saw it she hated it and pretty much refused to even leave the house! It looked awesome. after some prodding we finally got her to leave the house to go to Dave and Dianes where Dave did her make up and that was the final straw for her! she was officially unhappy with what she looked like (even though she look awesome!) After being out trick or treating for a while and getting the compliments that she was getting she decided that she did indeed look amazing and she was finally happy.

Austin went as a nerd and everything except from the suspenders are clothes out of his closet. haha I loved it sooooooo much! Ocatvaian was spiderman, i had an adorable lion costume and we got it on him and he threw the biggest fit so we had to go to Dave and Dianes and find something else. He refused to take that one off. Fenix was Darth Vador and was just as happy as could be.

We drove out to Emily's mom's house along with Brett and Viv and did some trick or treating with some of the grandkids. There were some crazy decked out houses that made poor little Daisy scared. It was awfully cute. After we were done in Emily's neighborhood we headed up the big hill to hit up some members of the wards. We came home to some smashed pumpkins and bed time. It was a great Halloween and onto Thanksgiving!

Emily's baby shower was on saturday, My friend Breanna and I threw a "fall" inspired shower. We are so excited for baby Jack!!! here are some pictures i took from the shower! I love the hot coco bar!!!

On Saturday I helped the kids carve their pumpkins. They did a good job.

Today in school the kids have crazy hair day. fun stuff!

Pumpkin Patches!

So last Saturday we went to the pumpkin patch. We drove out to Vancouver and went to a farm called Biz-E farms or something like that. The place was awesome! It was an $8.00 charge per person to get in and at 1st it seams hefty... but Octavian was free and we got to do just about everything there plus a pumpkin is included. We...got to do the hay ride and then we got to launch some pumpkins in the pumpkin launcher. we got our pumpkins and got free hot coco and cider. we shucked some corn. Octavian wouldn't let Kirk leave the animals so they hung around there for most of the time. After we enjoyed all the other activities we took this kids on their very 1st REAL corn maze. Poor Fenix thought we would be lost forever. After about an hour right as it was getting dark we made it through. It was such a fun little family event, totally worth the money... rather than going to another one where you have to pay separately for everything you do. I give this place a great big 2 thumbs up!

Wow how does time really fly by so fast! My baby is 3 and completely potty trained and full of lovely little tantrums! what happened to my little baby!?!? He is such a relaxed and chilled kinda guy and I LOVE being at home with him during school. When he was younger he used to be really aggressive and kind of a bully to other kids but now he is sweet and cool with them. I just love having this little guy as my youngest right now.

We had a fun family party and celebrated Octavian and Daisy's birthdays together like tradition. This year they got a mickey and Minnie cake (they are like obsessed with that show!)

The next Sunday was Octavian's actual birthday so we had a few families over that have kids Octavians age and we sang and had more cake. It was his 1st "friend" party!

So fall is here and in the celebration of fall my sister in law jenny and I decided to make some Autumn wreaths out of Tulle! LOVE THEM!!! also i had such bad roots that i needed a change and what better way to bring in the cold weather then with some rich red browns and copper blonds! LOVE THE HAIR! i always forget that i prefer being dark so much better then being light. Here are some pictures!

Cooking Lesson

So today Kirk went into the Kitchen and tried to pick up the cereal container off the stove but it wouldn't budge. apparently one of my children decided to put it on the stove while the burner was on and now we have this lovely mess. haha They are really molded together. its funny... oh well just thought i would share :)

A new Caudle Joins the World

My amazing sister in law had a baby last night! Kaeley Karen Caudle born at 1:15 AM weighing in at 5lbs 10 oz and 19 inches long. I was so excited to go meet my new little niece, I just love the babies to death!!!!! Kirk and I headed to the hospital after we sent the kids off to school and to our surprise we were the 1st visitors they had! So other then mom and dad and the doctors and nurses Kirk and I and Octavian were the 1st to hold the little angel. When i say little I mean itty bitty and soooooo sweet! We just fell in love instantly and I cant wait to hog her on Sunday dinners! I do have to admit that just like visiting all the other babies it made my heart ache for a little baby of my own but Im holding strong we are in no position to add another right now. Hopefully a few years down the road we can have 1 or 2 more. Its just to sad to think that I might not have any more babies in our family.

I got to throw Viv a diaper shower a few weeks ago and I had to take a picture of the cake that her friend made her and the diaper wreath that I made (of course the idea came from pinterest) it was fun and i love throwing showers and celebrating with those I love!

Let the School year Begin!

So school started for us about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Its been so nice to have the kids out and about doing stuff and the peace back in my house. The school they are going to is about a block and a half away and they dont need to cross any major streets so this year they are walking, this is the 1st time I have let them do that! They are loving it! They walk with all their little friends that live in our small complex. They love their teachers and the school is much much much better then Lent school! So come on school year of 2011/2012!!
Austin is in 5th grade, his last year in the elementary school. He is on the 5th and 6th grade football team for parkrose colts! He is excited to work in the library this year and do safety guard. He has the option of being in band for the 1st time also. Pretty much he is loving his 5th grade year so far!
Trinity is in 3rd grade this year. She is in cheer leading and is cheering for Austin's football team. She was so excited to win the fundraiser and her prize for selling the most scentsy was a bag full of Justin Beiber stuff. OH JOY right? She is enjoying being 8 and doing achievement day girl stuff.
Fenix is all done with Kindergarten and into the 1st grade. He loves being a big boy and walking to and from school and starting in a few weeks he will be doing some Tai Kwan Do... Hopefully that will release some of his crazy energy.

Octavian and I are just enjoying being at home together. Going to the gym snuggling and having play dates. Oh how I enjoy school keeps all 6 of us happy. Kirk will start his last year in his Masters program on Monday. Its time to write that scary Thesis!

Our Mt St Helens adventure!

On Tuesday my Parents the kids and I set off on a trek to see Mt St Helen's. All of my kids have a fascination with Volcanoes (I think because of something Austin learned in school) We have talked about why Mt St Helen's doesn't have the tip because it blew and ever sense Austin has wanted to go. So we map quested how far away it was and it only said about an hour and 12 mins. WE headed out and had to stopped and threaten the kids for being so crazy in the car. we pull off to where map quest tells us to go and it brings us to a visitor center that you have to pay to get in... the Mountain no where in site! We asked how long it would take to get to the mountain and the guy told us 45 mins and it was so cloudy that you wouldn't be able to even see the mountain... Talk about disappointment. I have a friend that lives in Woodland WA, so we drove there and borrowed some flashlights and jackets and went to discover the Ape Caves. I have heard about these caves from so many people and decided it was finally our time to explore them. Let me tell you, I was NOT dissapointed, and neither were the kids. It was Awesome. The caves were formed from lava when Mt St Helen's erupted. You go down these stairs into the ground and end up in this pitch black tunnel, all Lava rock. It was about 1 1/2 mile round trip. The kids did great, Octavian was mad and scared the whole time. Mad because he wanted to hold the flashlight and scared when he wasnt holding a flash light. It was funny.

After we were done with the ape caves, we headed a right down the road to the Two Tree trail. Lava came down and surrounded some trees burning them inside out just leaving a hollow stone tunnels... on this trail they have one tree on the ground and one up so it made this tunnel that people can crawl through. Pretty cool if you ask me!

While driving back we got quite the surprise! An amazing View of the Mountain! looks like the guide was wrong and our drive out there to see Mt St Helens turned out to be pretty darn awesome!
I am always amazed by the beauty we have in the world to enjoy, i have been lucky enough to grow up in 2 of the most amazingly beautiful places I have ever seen. One being the desert of AZ, there is nothing like sand stone canyons and Blue water and Red deep canyons going down into the Colorado rives all the way to the amazing Gorge of Portland OR, the trees and mountains and greenery, the beach. I feel so blessed to be given and world of such beauty.

Parents come to play at the zoo and rosegardens

My parents came to visit our family this past week. They normally come for visits in the winter because that is when my kids all have their birthdays, so this is the 2nd time in 10 years they have gotten to see sunny beautiful Portland and we took advantage of that! We have been good and haven't hooked up our window A/C's because we didn't want to pay the extra electricity bill. We have never used an A/C unit before but our friends moved and gave us theirs when they moved. My dad coming from Southern Utah walked into our house and broke out into a sweat instantly so we decided we should hook up the unit. The last week of August we installed our A/C units... pretty funny if you ask me. Its been nice though epically considering that this week is supposed to be in the mid 90's. We went to watch Austin play some ball, had a nice Sunday BBQ and on Monday we loaded up for a zoo visit. My parents paid for us to ride the zoo train (a novelty i never let the kids do) and we stopped by to visit the beautiful rose gardens. On our way home we stopped at VooDoo Doughnuts and got my parents some maple bacon doughnuts and sour grape doughnuts but they were not impressed... Oh well it was a great day anyways. So our dear buds the westwoods moved to Idaho and spent the month of July in Alaska getting a beautiful little Eskimo baby and now that they are back in Idaho with little miss Alaska, it was time for the Caudles to invade Idaho and visit! It was a fun visit, full of talking, swimming, loving babies and playing truth or dare! It was so nice to be back with friends and relax. Here are some pictures of the grand trip!

Clown Brigade!

OK! So last year Kirk and his boys did a mean Robo brigade. Well the time has come again but this year it was total Clown Brigade. The group was much larger and included my kiddos and Cousin Jared. Kirk wanted to be the scary clown and with help from Dave he achieved that goal. Many children were scared of him. The crew headed down town, stopping at Saturdays market to dance with the street musicians and dance with homeless men. They got a bag of free roasted almonds for posing for a calender and encountered good ol Portland famous "Elvis" . We walked down the water front and hung out with street preachers and babies and break dancers, even a wedding party. They ran blissfully through fountains and talked to tourists from China. It was really funny to be apart of. Of course if you living in Portland you have to keep it weird. Such silly boys. Here are some pictures of the Clown Brigade!

Ward Camp out

So for the 1st time Kirk and I finally went to a ward camp out. It was fun. The kids enjoyed it. We stayed out late talking and enjoying friends in the ward, our lovely air mattress exploded in the middle of the night haha and it started to poor rain at about 3:00 Am and didn't stop till we were in our car driving home the next morning. But all in all it was a fun time, making our camp outs this summer complete. People are lucky if they can get us to go camping once a year. Here are pictures of the excitement!

July Fun

Well this July has only been going for a few days but those days have been full full full! To start off with Kirk and I just celebrated 11 years together. Yes folks I guess its now a fact that I am getting old, I have been married a year over a decade, I have 4 kids 1 of which is a 10 year old! That is 5th grade people. Granted im not 30 yet, I still have a whole 6 months before I hit that milestone but I have had plenty of life experiences, Kirk and I have been through a lot and I am grateful that i get to go through the rest of everything with him. He is a wonderful husband and I couldn't ask for any more then what he is. I really do love him more today then yesterday and so on.

We were supposed to go to Boise to celebrate the big day and also to celebrate the 4th of July, but the birth mom for Shane and Naomi's baby got induced, so naturally they went to Alaska and we stayed home. I was sad for me but really excited for them. So I decided to fill my days with other fun stuff. I made some darling 4th of July hair bows for my nieces and we painted shirts with all the grand kids for the 4th. Kirk and I hosted a game night for people in the ward on our anniversary and after wards my amazing sister in law Vivienne watched my kiddos so we could enjoy a night of dancing and Dennys. It was a great night.

We had a couple over for dinner on Sunday and got to talk and hang out and then the next day we enjoyed the 4th with a ward activity and fun at the In laws place. The ward activity this year was great fun. They had it out at the happy valley building. They had 2 bounce houses and some face painting and nail art and snow cones. A nice little program and all that fun. After that we went to Myles house and swam and did more nails. Sang some Karaoke Talked Laughed and watched the neighbors light off their fireworks. The kids all had a blast and so did we. The 4th of July is one of my most favorite holidays to spend with the Caudle/ Reck Clan.

So now that the 4th is over and it was still hot my mother in law and I decided to hit up the beach for the day. Fenix only threw up twice in the car.... thank goodness he made it in a bag both times, but we ended up making it. It was super cloudy but nice and warm for the beach with no wind. We had some pizza rode on the carousel, tried on some hats and went to the beach. We played on the beach for 3 hours and got major sunburns. Buried people in the sand, jumped at the waves and swung on some swings. Octavian had more fun than anyone else. It was great. I love the beach more than I love any other place in the world (well maybe other than lake powell).

Our summer has been great fun and in August we get to drive to Boise to see LIttle Miss Alaska (of which i cant wait to HOld and love to death) and possibly at the end of August my parents may come up to see us!

Stern Wheeler days and FHE

On Saturday we had a wonderful family day together. Kirk came home from work saying he wanted to drive out to cascade locks witch is about 30 mins out of town or so and one of the most beautiful little towns ever! He said they were having a carnival type thing there called Stern-wheller days. It sounded fun enough so we headed out... We went to the parade that was the shortest parade ever but perfect for the kids. Then we went to the carnival thing. It was all set up like old time westerns. It was cool with all the T-Pee's and booth set up with people working a booth. The part the kids loved best was shooting off the canon and seeing the blacksmith make a spoon and fork combo.

Family Home Evening!

We also had a great FHE last night. The family is once again all together so we did Family Home Evening. We met at Dave and Dianes and had a lesson then we drove out into the gorge to enjoy a pick nick dinner and a nice little hike. We ended up at Horsetail falls, its my fave of all the falls. Just about everyone did the hike, I think Octavian and Daisy liked the hike more then anyone else. It was a good night, it was nice because the Caudles never do these kinda outings.

Summer has begun in our home!

Summer break has officially been here for a week and already all 3 of the kids have enjoyed sleep overs and a zoo trip. Over all this past week has flown by with out any crazy fighting or whining... Well except for today a little. We should have a good summer I am hoping. Tomorrow is a library day and in a week and a half we are going to go to Boise to spend Kirk and My 11th wedding anniversary and 4th of July. What better people to be spending that time then good friends. Other than that we have just simple plans. Pick nick at parks Play dates with friends and some more zoo trips. Hopefully we can have 1 or 2 trips to the ocean and enjoy 1 camping trip at the ward camp out. All in all I'm looking forward to having the time with the kids before school gets started again.

The loss of a best friend...

Ok so this sounds like someone has died, don't worry its not THAT bad but still bad!

As you could tell from most of my blogs and facebook and just my life that this past year kirk and I have found some great friends. The Westwoods, they invited us on 1 beach trip about year ago and sense then we have pretty much been inseparable! As a couple we have just clicked with them and formed an extremely close friendship. We have enjoyed many adventures, such as camping and cook outs and beach trips and almost every Sunday night hangouts till the weee hours of the night. Naomi has been there for me all year and been such a great person to fill my days with.

They moved to Boise ID last week, dont worry i tried my best to keep them here but it was useless. The month before they moved we made sure to fill every day and in fact the last week they were here, they spent at our apartment till about midnight every night. We had a very tearful goodbye but I am very happy that they made it safely and are enjoying there new home. I just have to figure out how to go on with out the other me! Luckly i have great sister in laws in town and found a new friend to fill some of the void in my life. :)

We had a few girls nights before they left and an awesome date night and some little adventures around town.

Our girl nights including Naomi, Anastasia, Stacy and I... The 1st night we went to the mall and had our makeup done and then we went to the Melting Pot for some amazing chocolate fondue. The 2nd night a few weeks later we went to a German restaurant and got some cheese fondue and ended the night having some AMAZING dessert and walked the trendy streets of Portland. Our girl nights have sure been fun!

The big news of my dear friends is that they are going to be adopting a little baby in Alaska and i could not resist throwing Naomi a shower even though she told me not to... I was so excited to make her little baby blankets, I cant wait to meet their little angel!

Our last date as a couple was one for the books, we went to a BBQ place in North POrtland after dinner Kirk and Naomi played a mean practicle joke on Shane and I and staged a HUGE fight that left Shane and I confused and angry and beyond releived when we found out it was fake. Lets just say the end of the fight was with Naomi slapping kirk. We then went to the Barrel Room and danced the night away, finishing the night at Denny's for some ice cream.

Our last week together Naomi and I hit up our 1st food cart complex and enjoyed some yummy sandwiches, we got Gelato and went to Ikea and went to Multnomah falls, Por Que No and dinners made by me and sitting on the couch looking depressed.

I will always love Naomi and look forward for drives to Boise and for them to travel back home to us.... you cant buy better friends!!! Love You Guys!!!!! Enjoy the cow poop smelling state!!!!!

lots to fill in!

OK so its be FOREVER sense ive updated this so hold with me while i try to fill you in on the past few months.

Luckily for me after the 4th time flushing my phone my little man has decided that he is done with this faze or at least i hope he is!

WE MOVED! Yes hoary we are no longer living in the in-laws basement and we have a lovely 3 bedroom 2 bathroom townhouse. Its perfect we have plenty of space and a little extra living room upstairs. Our neighbors have kids my kids age and a basketball hoop. Its in David Douglas school district and the school is super close so the kids can walk to school next year every day! LOVE IT! and the best news is that it is only about a block from Kirk's work. Its been so nice, sad cause we are really counting our pennies again but totally worth it.

The Blazers made the playoff so we decided to go to the rose garden and watch the 1st game with all the fans on the big screen sense the game was in Dallas. we lost but had a grand time anyways.

Easter this year was fun. we had lots of excitement. We had all of the Caudle Clan here including Don's Fiance and her family. we took some family photos and had the Easter egg hunt and dinner. Viv put together a really nice program that would be great to keep going each year.

My Little Fenix boy had a Birthday and turned 6 years old. I cant believe it! My kid just keep getting older. I love my little emotional boy, he is super sensitive and emotional and crazy but thats just whats great about him. he wanted a fire cake this year and that was the best i could do. He was so excited to get his birthday present and that was tickets to WWE RAW. In fact he and Kirk just went and he was in heaven.

I was able to go to the beach with Naomi and Adam and Octavian and boy did we luck out with some amazing weather! The sun was out with no wind. We enjoyed playing on Canon beach and having lunch at Moe's. We drove home Via Tillamook so we could get some cheese and icecream and just enjoyed our conversations.

Octavian is potty training!!! I started on Monday and now its friday.. in the past 5 days he has had about a total of 6 accidents, mostly when he is in pullups he tends to wait while he is in his big boy undies, in fact today he has had no accidents. He has pooped and peed all day today in the toilet! YAY!!

Austin is once again in baseball and has once again reminded me that baseball might be the worst sport ever!!!! It is fun to watch your little boy playing and doing well in a sport but baseball sure pushes my limits. I am really excited for football season to start so i can watch him play that!

Trinity is enjoying being in achievement day girl stuff and is starting to feel like a little grown up. She even talked me into buying her sports bras! I don't know what to do with myself now that i have such old kids! YIKES!!!

Terrible 2's!

I sit here exhausted from an emotional day... I guess I will just start from the beginning.... About 2 weeks ago or so my little Octavian boy got hold of my phone and put it somewhere where we could not find it! So we started calling it and calling it and it just sounded like it was coming from the bathroom, but where? After about 10 minuets or so we discovered that it was ringing from the toilet pipe. How in the world! Well he took off with my phone ran into the bathroom and flushed my phone down the toilet. We could not believe that it was still ringing. We were all just cracking up and calling it so we could hear in through the pipe. We shop-Vacked all the water and the ring was so loud. My father in law and Kirk worked on getting the toilet off and they were able to get the darn thing out, still working I might add. I knew it would short so the next day i went to the Sprint store and bought a new phone.

The next day the little stinker flushed my mother in laws phone down the toilet. It wasn't so funny this time. It went all the way into the sewer. Great right? On Thursday a day after he flushed Diane's phone down the toilet I went to a bunco night. Well my responsible adult in charge of watching my little toilet flusher left the bathroom door open and my bedroom door open. Needless to say he found my old phone and flushed it down the toilet, so once again the toilet was off limits for about 6 days till Dave was ready to take the toilet apart once again to retrieve the phone. So all is good right..... Not so much!

Today I had my phone on me and the door shut all morning and no issues so you would guess my utter shock when i reached for my phone and it was not where i keep it on me... So we search the house the downstairs cause there was no way he could get into the bathroom. Well after searching and searching we went to the toilet and flushed it and yah you guessed it, in the toilet. Can I just say that by saying i was upset was an understatement. I ran and got uncle Myles across the street and he saved the day and my phone is sitting in a bowl of rice hopefully getting better, if it isn't better in a few days i get to send it in for a new phone thanks to the insurance we got on the phone.

So I sit here pondering through tears throughout the whole day how I survived 3 other kids going through their terrible 2's and 3's because it is sure dang hard.

I know in a few years i will look back at the blog post and just laugh but until then I am going to continue through the days and hope that this toilet flushing faze is over. On a good note my sister Viv has let me use her old blackberry while I wait for my phone to start working.

Out Trip to Utah

So Kirk submitted a paper for a conference that was being held at UVU last week and of course he got in because he is smart like that. I decided because it was in Utah and I could visit some family that i would join him. So we rented a car and made the 12 hour trek to Utah. the drive was amazing considering we didn't have any kids. I cant remember the last time Kirk and I had had conversations like we did on this trip. We talked about everything!

We stayed at Kyle and Emily's shoebox of an apartment and got to play with little Lucy and enjoy her smiles. I dropped Kirk off at UVU and spent most of Friday with Emily and Lucy and ended up at the school to have dinner with Kirk. It was an interesting dinner... Me sitting at a table with about 12 male college professors and my husband. lets just say i felt odly out of place. After dinner I drove to Jeff and Ari's house to give Landon and birthday present and to play a game with them and my parents. AFter being done there i went to pick Kirk up at a professor from BYU's house, about a group of 20 "smart" people were sitting in a circle in a room drinking bottled cream soda and telling funny church stories it was a crack up. It seriously looked like they were all drinking beer and getting drunk. It was sooo funny!

On Saturday I dropped Kirk back off at the school and then picked up my cousin Emily and headed to my cousin's Cinda's apartment to get my hair colored and cut. I would say the best part of the whole trip. She did an amazing job and even curled it for me. It was so nice to visit with cousins that i never get to see and get pampered. After this I went back to the school to meet my family to hear Kirk present his paper.

His paper was amazing. I guess you could say it hits a pride level to have my husband speaking at a conference with people who teach at universities and attended Harvard and Yale, it is an even higher pride level that when he is done speaking almost all the questions are for him. He did an amazing job and I was so proud of him.

On Sunday we drove to Boise and stayed with our friends Hannah and Darwin and we drove home on Monday. Somehow I had gotten a horrible virus that left my eye bright red and swollen and just gross and then continued to get stuffy ears and a super sore throat and a yucky fever. So needless to say I have been sleeping pretty continually for the past 5 days. I really hope my eye clears up though cause its starting to scare everyone! lol

So as all of you know I have been into sewing a lot lately. I made a bag for Trinity for Christmas this year and we found out it was perfect for little scriptures. It cant fit the big ones but the smallest ones its perfect for. So Trinity started using the bag as a scripture tote. I had to order new scriptures a few months ago and they were the cheapest so of course its the smallest quad. So I went ahead and made myself a scripture bag and it turned out perfect. My boys felt left out so we headed over to JoAnns to get some material and I just finished theirs. Didn't they turn out cute? Now my little family all have scriptures in their bags. I LOVE these bags! Just thought I would share!

So I had a girls night last night and it was sooooooooooo much fun. We went to the McMenamins kennedy School for a late night dinner. It was really fun exploring the place and planning the next girls night at the soaking pool they have. Around midnight after dinner we headed down town to the Broiler room witch is a Karaoke bar. It was Packed and sadly i didn't get to sing... still waiting to do that. But it was fun, watching Naomi get hit on by like 4 different guys. It was fun and at one point a drag queen came in and sang it was soooooooooooooooooo funny and awesome. I had a great night and got to hang out with 3 other gals that we dont do much with. it looks like the beginning of a beautiful girls night group. Totally worth staying out till 2 am, even if you are dead tired the next day!

I cant wait for the next one!

Naomi thought that we should do red lips for this night and Ive never done them before so i went out and bought like 3 different colors to make sure i got the right shade and you know what it was fun to go bold like that with lip stick. Kirk LOVED it and was sad when I didn't wear the red lipstick to church today.

My new baby

So as most of you know at least from my posts on facebook, i found a new hobby. A hobby that is slowly taking over all the other hobbies i love. Its sewing. About 8 months or so ago my friend Bev and I decided to make Trinity a dress and that evolved into making ourselves some bags. After the bags i wanted to make an apron and I was starting to think, hey i really like this sewing business. So i started thinking about buying a machine, Viv being the amazing sister in law that she is gave me an early Christmas present... her old sewing machine and BOY was i excited! (best Christmas present like EVER!)

I got busy sewing and sewing and sewing. I learned a few different bag patterns. PJ's lots and lots and lots of PJ's thanks to the donation of fabric from Kirk's aunt. and then some more bags and now with the last visit+

from my parents some baby blankets.

I think i sewed soooooooooooo much that i messed up the already fragile tension on the machine i already have... so after lots and lots of advice from sewing machine techs and my mom, it was decided that i needed to invest in a better machine. This made my mom very happy because she went out of her way to research the best machines. for me.. We came down to a babylock. I couldn't really afford anything really nice so i was looking basic basic. She sent me a little booklet that listed the different babylock machines and the one she would choose. Unfortunately for me that machine was going to be way out of my budget and was a good wishful thinking machine.

Well i finally got ready to go to the store and I went in for my basic machine and i told the guy what my mom would want me to get and the guy was sooooo amazing and let me take the out of the box machine for the same price as the basic one. I was jumping up and down with excitement at this! To make things even better they had 1 last babylock Audrey in the box and he gave it to me for the out of the box price. So i got an amazing machine for an AMAZING price.

I have loved sewing with it and seeing the strait lines and even playing with the decorative stitches. Ive made a bag with it and also 2 blankets. I know its the start of a beautiful relationship.

I LOVE TIHS MACHINE! K I guess im done now :)

K so its been a while and a lot has happened....

I now have a kid in the double digits! A newly baptized member of the church and a 31 year old husband! YIKES!

Lets start with my beautiful daughter. She had her 8th birthday back on the 10th. We had a great mommy daughter date witch included... a trip to the mall to watch Tangled...(super cute movie by the way) then she had a whole 20 bucks to spend so we shopped at the mall and she got some fun stuff from the Disney store and from clairs. We ended out night at Olive Garden for a nice dinner. It was a fun bonding time for me and my little girl.

She had her baptism on the 15th. Grandma and Grandpa Terry came out for it. She planned the whole thing by herself. She had talks by both Grandpas and she and I sang together. It was very beautiful and caught myself tearing up through the whole thing. I am happy that we got to sing together it was such a special time. She had to be dunked 2 times but was a trouper. We were overwhelmed with love by the amount of people that showed up to share this day with her. She is definitely a girl with her issues but she is such a sweet and strong spirit and I am so blessed to have her as my daughter (even if she does act exactly like i did when i was a child!)

We had a birthday party for Austin and Trinity on Sunday. I made 2 fondant cakes with the help from Naomi. we made Austin a blazer cake and Trinity a cake full of hearts. They turned out cute. we had a houseful of people and they kids were very happy with their gifts. Trinity got a purse, barbies and littlest pet shop and Austin got to take home 3 blazer games. They were very happy with it.

Austin is now 10 years old! I cant believe it!!! He is so old and is starting to look like a little teenager. He wanted to go swimming so I took him and 2 of his friends and Fenix to the pool. I had to use a lot of control to not force him and his friends to stay with me but i was strong and just hung out with Fenix. (it helped a lot to know that the pool wasn't super busy) After we went swimming we went to Pizza hut and had an interesting dinner, with 3 10 year old boys and 1 5 year old. It was fun. It is enjoyable watching my 1st kid become a teenager and grow up so great. He is responsible and funny and quite the athlete.

Kirk his his 31st birthday. Man that makes me feel old! We had a birthday party last Sunday for him and Clark. Diane made him 4 pies.... crazy i know. I helped Viv make Clark a Thomas the Train cake. Kirk got blazer tickets to go with Austin's. That night we went over to Shane and Naomi's house for some chips and salsa and so Kirk could open his peanut butter wrapped present. It was a fun night and all.

Christmas IN our home!

Another Great Christmas was had in our home this year.... lets start with Christmas EVE.

1st we went out to Great Grandma Caudle's home and visited and made a gingerbread train!
we then came home and had some dinner, read the Christmas Story out of the bible opened our Christmas PJ's (this year I made all of them I am especially proud of Trinity's nightgown!) Hung our stockings and went to bed.

Kirk had to work on Christmas Eve so the kids couldnt go upstairs till we got home at 7. We then spend the morning opening presents and the kids ended up having a great Christmas morning.

Around noon the rest of the Caudle family trickled in and we then opened the family gifts, played games and had our turkey dinner. This year was my year for home made gifts I made all my sister in laws bags, The kiddos PJ's Trinity and Fenix both snuggies and pillows and Dave and Diane a family proclamation scrap book. They all turned out well. Dave and Diane gave all the boys matching BYU shirts.
We Loved on Baby Lucy a Ton! Dont you just love that ruffle butt? After dinner we did the annual Caudle Gift Exchange. This year I gave to Brett and with the help of a friend we photo shopped his face into some of his favorite things and made a calender of him. Kirk gave to Diane an made a family calender and a deck of cards. Ok ok ok i did that and put his name on it. I got a framed picture of me being the star of wicked and Kirk got some action figures... it was funny.

We finished the night off with playing games! On Sunday everyone came to our ward for our Christmas program and then we had Sunday dinner and Viv helped the kids act out the Christmas story from the bible. It was cute and a great way to end out this holiday season!

Now onto New Years Eve and me turning the dreaded 29! yikes!!!!

I have wanted to go to zoo lights for about 10 years and now that we have a membership to the zoo we can go without having to pay the 11 bucks to get in. It was really cool seeing that many lights. IM glad we went even though Kirk and Austin were being poor sports and pouting. it was fun for me. WE went of course with our favorite people, the westwoods. It was fun.

My Very 1st Black Friday ever!

OK OK OK I totally did my 1st black Friday even ever!!!

I went with my Sister -in-law Vivienne and Friend Amber. So we started out night out at Toys-R-Us. It opened at 10 and we got there at 10... bad idea. I think the line was about 3 blocks long but it was moving fast. We were standing in line but Kirk had to go to work So i left the line and took Kirk to work and got back, they were still in line when I got back but they were in the front of the line by that time. So i made it just in time. We got in and it was a MADHOUSE! We spent about 5 minuets shopping then stood in line for 2 hours and 15 minuets. Amber ended up with 3 things, Viv 2 things and me 2 things. It was funny watching the guy behind us. His cart was mostly full but by the time the 2 hours were up it was over flowing with items. Pretty funny. We got out of Toys-R-Us at 1:15 AM. Round 1 finished, I left with a Princess art kit and mickey mouse clubhouse books.

Our next stop Walmart.... We got to Walmart at 1:15 AM, we walked in tried to move, couldnt really move cause the Chaos and lines. It was horrible so we dropped out of the Walmart experience at least at that time. So we decided to drive back to Amber's house so she could get warmer clothes and blankets. We then Decided to go get some dinner at Denny's. It was exactly what we needed. We did have a little scare when Amber thought she lost her wallet... freaked us all out! But she found it thank goodness.

We got out of Dennys and we were in line for Target at about 2:30 AM. The line wasnt to bad and we huddled in our little group trying to get warm. I think I decided to never be homeless (it Soooooo wouldnt work for me!) After our wait was over we got into Target. I wasnt to trilled with the selection but did end up finding 3 games for $3.99 and a movie for $3.99 so I got those for Fenix. There was pretty much no line, so we were in and out of Target by 4:20. Now round 4 was complete! I left target with 4 more items.

So the reason I really wanted to do black Friday this year was for JoAnn's $1.29 a yard flannel sale! So i wanted to make sure we got a good place in line. We got there at 4:30 and go figure there was not 1 person in line! So we went to 7'11 and got some hot coco, came back, still not a soul in line so we parked and realized that the Toys-R-Us Express was getting ready to open and sense we had nothing else to do and there were only like 10 people in line there we went. I found Fenix 2 zhu zhu pets and a lava lamp for Trinity and a lava lamp for Fenix. So I left Toys - R - Us express with 4 items!

When we walked out of Toys - R- Us there were about 9 people in line at JoAnn. So we went off to stand in line with a bunch of ladies being nice and visiting, well when those doors opened those women turned brutal! I went for my flannel for my PJ making and it was crazy the women got soooo mean! I found different snowmen and penguin material for PJ making then some Fleece for snuggie making. Got about 20 yards total fabric cut! Bought some buttons and thread and a carry case with wheels for my sewing machine. Viv was being an amazing sister in law and bought me an early birthday, a sewing box to hold my scissors and and pin cushion and thread. It was awesome!

We were out of JoAnns by 7, Viv was beaten down so we took her home and Amber and I ventured out to walmart once again... This time it was much better though, it was clear and the lanes we fine and there were no crazy lines. I got slippers for my kids and some mickey mouse PJ's and 2 pkg's of hot wheel cars for Octavian and a littlest pet shop kit for trinity and then another littlest pet shop for her and a fur real friend. I got out of walmart with 9 items. And we were officially done!!!!

I took Amber home and went home. After calculating everything I discovered that I did all my Christmas shopping for Trinity, Octavian and Fenix, all for about a total of 128 bucks! Yay for me! considering I had a 100 buck budget for each kid i did great with the most for 1 kid being $55.00 bucks! I would say it was a success but I don't know if it will ever happen again! Maybe JoAnns for making Christmas PJ's but it was good bonding and fun.

Bags for Sell

K so I have been making bags and Ive been thinking about selling them. So I am just posting to see if anyone would buy them or be interested. Here are a few that I have made but I can make more, if you tell me what kind you want i can go buy fabric and make a bag for you. I was thinking about selling the smaller bags for about 20 bucks and the bigger ones for about 25-30.
Give me feed back so I can know if it will be a waste of my time. Its really fun and i liked the way they turn out. Here are some pictures...

Halloween!

Halloween was great at the Caudle household. Our schedule has been so busy with school, football and kirk's school and teaching institute, that our annual trip to a pumpkin patch ended up being safeways pumpkin patch. We had Brett and Viv and Trent and Jenny over to help us carve them and they turned out pretty good.

We had our ward activity on Saturday and did the trunk or treat and ended up at Denny's after wards. It Turned out great and the kids had a blast. This year we had... The Riddler (kirk)... A Witch (Stephanie)... a Ghoast (Austin) An Angel (Trinity)... Robyn (Fenix) and Superman (Octavian).

On Sunday we went trick or treating with Brett and Vivienne and Shane and Naomi. Octavian and Daisy loved it but they got warn out so i dropped Kirk off and took the older kids out for a little more action. The kids got a loot and LOVED it.

Overall Halloween this year was great! Now all i can say is let Thanksgiving begin!

my baby is 2!

So this last Saturday our little baby is 2 years old. Yes its birthday time again at the Caudle house. It is crazy to me how fast these kids grow. I remember thinking when i was in elementary school that i would be in school FOREVER and that I would never live to be 18, here I am 10 years past that 18 years of age, looking in disbelief at my life. I have 4 kids, the oldest being 9 and the youngest being 2 and its like my life is in fast forward.

I love having my babies at home and Octavian has been a joy to have, yes he is full of energy and saying he is aggressive is an under statement. But he is a crack up and does not having anything lacking when it comes to personality. He is potty training and learning how to talk. He LOVES Thomas and Mickey Mouse. Every time he looks at me with his HUGE brown eyes I melt. I am so grateful to have that little man as part of my life!

We celebrated his birthday last Sunday with his cousin Daisy. We just did a family party and sang to them. I spent 2 days on the cake witch turned out amazing. My friend helped ( or at least made it while I watched) some fondant, then i colored it . (hardest part of the whole thing was coloring the fondant!). I baked a chocolate cake and made peanut butter mousse as a filling and iced it put it in the freezer over night and then spent 2 hours dirty frosting it and covering it in fondant. The end was pretty cracked but over all i thought it looked pretty good for my 1st attempt. Overall the party was a big success and Octavian loved it! Here are some pictures!

Bad Sportsmenship!

OK so I got my 1st taste of parents having HORRIBLE sportsmanship!

Austin's football game today was out of control. It starts out with our quarterback refusing the play then this sets off one the parents and he starts freaking out. The dad starts yelling at the coach the coach starts yelling at the dad, then a mom starts freaking out. All the sudden there is the F-bomb being dropped left and right kids getting kicked off our team because a mom cant control her filthy mouth.

And to make the day any better, Brett was watching Octavian during the game and he calls up and tells me i need to leave cause Octavian threw a glass pumpkin on daisy's head breaking the glass. Poor little girl needed to go to the doc and have stitches on the back of her head. But she is all better and happy.

Potty Time

I cant believe it but my little man is potty training! He has been taking his diaper off like crazy so about a week ago or so i just put him on the toilet and surprise surprise he went! So grandma Caudle was being awesome and bought him some pull ups and underwear and the potty training adventure started! He did awesome, even went a few days completely dry. He doesn't get the pooping part quite yet but today after a week of potty training he went the big #2. It has been fun (i know can you believe i said fun, its never been fun before) but he has really been enjoying using the bathroom. I sure hope this keeps up and who knows maybe we will be lucky and have a fully potty trained boy by his 2nd birthday.

What an over achiever we have, gotta love that little guy!

School = Peace!

Finally I am feeling some peace in my life! School started on Tuesday of this week for Austin and Trinity.

Austin is in 4th grade this year. YES you saw right, 4th grade! He is growing up so fast and doesnt seem like such a little kid anymore. He is 9 years old, and playing football for the 1st year. He isn't really that into football but still enjoys it. He loves being involved in any sport but his true love is basketball just like his daddy. The other day He was talking to kirk and he told Kirk that he is really happy to be apart of our family because we do really fun things. He said that he doesn't think most families get to have as much fun as ours. It was such a sweet conversation and Kirk was beaming as he was telling me this story.
Trinity is in 2nd grade and a little skinny girl she one small little girl,or at least the skinny jeans that she LOVES makes her look that way. She is still into art projects and is getting more into clothes and fashion. She is the A-typical little girl, sweet one minute and crazy the next!

I cant believe it but Fenix is now in Kindergarten! My little baby boy is that old?! He didn't start school until Thursday but walked right in and didnt care where I was. He is so independent and i know he is going to love being in school this year. His speech is getting much better and he communicates much better also. He is very very very active and free spirited. WE are thinking about signing him up for ice skating this year just to give him something to use up that never ending energy.

Poor poor Octavian is used to having lots of brothers and a sister to play with all day but is now left alone. I am sure we can fill his time playing with friends like Adam. As of right now he is driving cars on the computer desk as i type. Looks like there is going to be alot more mommy and me time for this little 2 year old. He is talking so much more now and its funny to hear him start saying sentences. he has adorable eyes that make you want to laugh and melt at the same time. I know i am going to enjoy this time with him!

As for me. I am just pumped to have 1 kid at home and not having to constantly break up fights and hear screaming! Its so peaceful right now. Now that school is back in im going to hit the gym a lot more in the mornings. My sister in law gave me her old sewing machine and i will be able to continue teaching myself to sew during nap times. Life is looking bright and wonderful for this upcoming school year.

Kirk has 2 more weeks till he starts his 2nd year in his masters program. He is doing so well with school, really excelling. He has exciting news also. He had an interview at Portland State University with the institute teacher and he will be able to teach a class this 2010/2011 school year. He will be teaching the book of John in the new testament on Wednesdays. He is sooo excited to be able to do this. Its one of his dreams coming true and he will do a great job. Plus it gets to go on his resume. I am so proud of him and all that he is accomplishing!

Ok so I will admit i am a hair day addict! I love changing my hair. Doing pretty hair and then some messed up hair and then some crazy hair. This time its crazy hair i did red again for my husband. I guess every once in a while you have to do something to make them happy. Kirk LOVES red red red hair so i went ahead and did it.

Camping with the Woodiest People I know!

So Friday we went camping... Yes I mean camping over night! Kirk and I are not big campers but we have some good friends that talked us into it. We took off at 10:30 AM and got out to our destination at about 1:00. Then we had to find a camp site... well it took us forever! We visited about 6 different sites before we found our amazing site, right on the main road. Total woodsy experience, haha. Now this was just me and Naomi with all of the kids. So we got to the site and had to set up most of camp while watching 5 kids! Lets just say the 1st part of Friday was not the best part of our trip... We had no cell service and so if we needed to get a hold of anyone we had to go for a drive. Well I needed to call the boys and while i was backing out i hit a tree. So smart right? so i kinda cracked our back brake light thingy. Oh well, when i got back Naomi was preparing an amazing dutch oven dinner. Lucky for us the boys got there right when we were going to sit and eat. After we ate Kirk and Shane set up the monster tent, then we got to do smoores. Yum...

The kids went down pretty easily. Octavian slept on me part of the night and then we got him int he tent. The night time with camping is my fave time... we had a great time talking drawing on wood. Naomi Poked the inside of Kirk's ear and made it bleed with a roasting stick and Shane flung a piece of hot coal on me and then continued to get it out off of my pants. So I am trying to decided if they really wanted us to go camping with them or if they were just trying to find a way to kill us! :) just kidding. Octavian ended up waking up over and over and over again... I dont think he really liked the sleeping in a tent very much.

Morning was a typical morning while camping... cold and tired. We went to the river and played a few games, then cleaned up camp and headed home. We stopped and had lunch at this cute little cafe off the side of the road and then got back in and made the rest of the trip. and then after an afternoon of laundry and cleaning we were done.

I'm glad we went but for sure wouldn't do it with anyone else so don't get any ideas!

So today I made an apron from Start to finish! I cut the pattern our all alone and the fabric out all alone, I figured out how to put it together all alone and i sewed it all alone. Well i guess not Completely all alone. I broke one of Jenny's needles and her mom came and fixed it and sewed the last few inches i had left and did a little patch work. Thanks Jenny for letting me use your machine and keeping me company while i made it! I LOVE IT! I cant wait to make more. I think i have decided to put up a fund for a sewing machine for me. anyone can donate! :)
